Modernist green

Over the past 50 years, 45 Whitfield Street has undergone a series of disjointed and unsympathetic fit-outs – rendering it incompatible with the needs of today’s workers. The retrofit of this 1970s building has brought it back to life: finding joy in its dormant, modernist qualities.

Instead of radically reinventing the structure, strategic alterations were made to enhance accessibility, permeability + flexibility: achieving maximum impact with minimal changes
Existing stainless steel and precast concrete façade treated and retained
Obsolete basement space – formerly parking facilities for small 1970s cars – transformed in modern end-of-trip cycle facilities
Countertops made from recycled timber scraps salvaged from disused sawmills – complement the building’s dark timber surrounds
🥦 Wellbeing
Occupiers of Derwent London buildings automatically enjoy complimentary DL/Membership status: an ever-growing package of benefits including access to exclusive partner lounges across London + curated experience-led events
Expansive amenity spaces: including breakout areas for informal collaboration, private booths for focused work + outdoor terraces on every floor (totalling 1,400 sq ft)
Carefully curated interior finishes introduce colour + warmth while reinforcing the 1970s identity
