Because ‘state-of-the-art’ today does not mean ‘state-of-the-art’ tomorrow. In future decades, Matrix One will become a source to harvest materials for the next buildings.

🌱Sustainability

  • BREEAM Excellent + almost energy-neutral

  • Demountable structure + intricately-planned construction means that over 90% of the building’s 120,000 individual components can be reused

  • Water reservoir under the building retains rainwater + reduces weight load on the roof by being located underground

  • 10,000+ sq ft of solar panels generate power, combined with smart lighting + heating that tenants control via app

🥦 Wellbeing

  • “Social staircase” in the main entrance includes amphitheatre-style seating, tables for gathering + coffee stations – boosting interaction

  • “Club Matrix”: Ground-floor restaurant, rooftop bar, and 100-seat auditorium available to all tenants in surrounding complex

  • Main amenity space is naturally ventilated: fresh air enters through ventilation openings in the floor + exits through the retractable roof

  • Compact steel support structure allows for open office layouts – plus all interior walls can be re/moved to accommodate different configurations

🎈Bonus feature

Check out this very cool video from the architects – for a glimpse into the building’s 120,000 individual parts, how they are counted, and categorised. The ending really reminds me of that famous end scene from Interstellar…
