🌱Sustainability

  • BREEAM Excellent (74%) + EPC A

  • Built on formerly derelict brownfield site, minimising environmental damage + improving perception of the city from motorway

  • Concrete rather than traditional steel frame = high thermal mass to absorb and release heat in the building for higher energy efficiency

  • HVAC system incorporates a hydro box solution which takes waste heat from offices and uses it to heat water

  • 40% reduction in internal water consumption compared to Building Regulations

🥦 Wellbeing

  • 280-capacity Lecture Theatre

  • Occupational health suite and gym: with cardio, resistance rooms, and dedicated fitness class studio

  • Double-glazed acoustic frameless partitions provide soundproofing and bright open plan feel

  • 16,000 sq ft of whiteboard panels made with magnetic opaque glass provide modern use of walls, encouraging creativity

  • Generous arcade surrounding the building creates a safe, protected walkway and outside shelter

🎈Bonus feature

Due to inclement Scottish weather and building design, a waterproofing membrane was required. The robust ‘liquid applied roofing’ called Elastoflex Solvent-Free has successfully shielded the building during the worst winter weather recorded in decades.
