🌱Sustainability
BREEAM Excellent
Regeneration of former brownfield site occupied by a series of anonymous + underutilised industrial sheds
Exposed internal concrete structure = part of environmental control strategy, utilising the thermal mass to reduce operational energy
Highly efficient underfloor air displacement ventilation system
Rainwater harvesting system incorporated for greywater recycling + landscape irrigation
🥦 Wellbeing
Cathedral-like 7-storey atrium (30 metres) acts as part art gallery, part social space, part event space for fashion shows
Large open, unobstructed floors span either side of the central atrium – allowing natural light to penetrate deep into the building + maximising connections between staff
Sleek end-of-trip facilities: 75 bike spaces, 66 lockers, 5 showers including 1 accessible
The building is a focal point within a wider ‘village’ for fashion designers, the vibrant Notting Dale campus – a public sculpture park
🎈Bonus feature
The cathedral-like 30m high atrium is a grand social space and home to many artworks – including a working carousel. Carsten Holler’s, Mirror Carousel provides a magical mystery ride for occupants: “participants who step up to take a ride are met with a whimsical mix of broken reflections and jarringly slow movement, creating an all-round meditative experience.”
