🌱Sustainability
EPC A + BREEAM Excellent = rare achievement for a refurb
Redeveloped from two 1960s buildings (decommissioned bank + gin distillery) – minimal demolition with original structure largely retained
CLT structure built from sustainably accredited wood + super-performing glue = 43% reduction in CO2 emissions
Structural elements prefabricated off-site + assembled on-site = 70% reduction in site traffic
21+ tonnes of waste diverted from landfill: repurposed by hand into delicate bricks to clad outside of building
🥦 Wellbeing
1st floor multi-purpose gallery space with 7m-high ceilings – ideal communal space for private events or yoga classes
10,000 sq ft green roof provides a natural haven to socialise + relax
Thoughtfully designed cycle parking, showers + lockers to accommodate 110 users at peak times
Outstanding natural daylight throughout the building
🎈Bonus feature
The striking lobby is Technique’s focal point. Formafantasma has created a contemporary re-imagining of Milan’s famous mid-century entrance halls. Using their own ‘excinere’ luxurious porcelain tiles – glazed with volcanic ash from Mount Etna 🌋.
